Are you curious about the future of gene editing? In this Teen Research Program, you will explore the various processes related to gene editing and the field of biotechnology, including a new technology called CRISPR that enables scientists to change organisms’ genes more accurately and efficiently. These innovations in biotechnology seek to solve many of the world’s current challenges. However, gene editing also brings up ethical concerns that we need to address. Together we will learn the science behind gene editing, use CRISPR to edit bacterial genes, and explore the ethical questions related to gene editing. You will gain skills and knowledge about genetics and biotechnology while adding valuable experience to your college application or career path.
