10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
On a visit to The Lawrence, students collaborate to investigate new ideas as they become scientists and engineers for a day.
We partner with school districts to support science learning. We offer district-wide elementary, middle, and high school programs, either virtually or in-person.
We collaborate with a range of partners to innovate in science education. Together, we go further.
The Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE) program provides cutting-edge biotechnology laboratory activities and real-world applications for high school biology classrooms. This five-day, summer workshop for high school teachers covers the Complete Series of the ABE curriculum, including an introduction to micropipettes and gel electrophoresis, plasmid digestion, plasmid ligation, confirmation of digestion and ligation via electrophoresis, bacterial transformation, colony PCR, and protein purification.
The workshop is normally offered once a year, in early Summer. Please note you must attend all five days (9am-4pm) of the workshop to qualify to teach the Complete Series.
